The other day I was talking with a friend who abhors good puns – thankfully he is loaded with bad ones. He said that he was playing with words in the shower…. well, not showering with words but contemplating about – no, come to think on it, he said he was actually writing on the steamed shower door.
He started to lexigram the word THERE. At first blush, I couldn’t see what one could get out of it. HE. THE. ET. But, my friend had other plans. He came up with an ideal self-reflexive, self-descriptive lexagram for the word THERE:
HERE ERE THERE
We had a couple of mindgasms and singed synapses over that one. With a bit of playing and some punctuation we ended up with this phrase:
RE ERE HERE: THERE
Translated as “Concerning before here, was there.” Let that one sink in. 🙂
Examine the use of punctuation. Consider how changing the symbols could alter the meaning.
RE: ERE HERE, THERE
RE THERE – HERE (ERE)
Can you come up with any other permutations? (Way to go, Greg! Thanks for the help!)
